Who PacifiCorp serves

CPUC-regulated electric utility serving Pacific Power's California service territory. Of the California places we cover, 2 are served mainly by Pacific Power (PacifiCorp), and together they issued 51 ADU building permits from 2021 through 2025.

How PacifiCorp handles new and upgraded service

Pacific Power (PacifiCorp) handles new service, service upgrades and meter changes through its Builder Service Request. This is separate from the building permit, so start it as soon as the electrical load calculation shows what the ADU needs. The steps PacifiCorp describes:

  1. Apply online (Builder Service Request) or call the New Construction Hotline; a work request number is assigned.
  2. The local office contacts the applicant within two business days to decide whether a site meeting with an estimator is needed.
  3. Site meeting: provide staked house location, basic load data and an approved site plan; email the AutoCAD plan set to the estimator.
  4. Estimator completes the design and job paperwork; the applicant receives a contract and list of items to complete.
  5. Return the signed contract and any advance payment; provide easements on Pacific Power documents.
  6. Obtain electrical inspection of the meter base and breaker panel; trench, conduit and vault work must be inspected and approved by Pacific Power before backfill.
  7. Pacific Power schedules construction once the last required item is received.

What PacifiCorp asks for

  • Residential Customer Load Sheet (customer information and load sheet)
  • Approved site plan / plan set (house location, roads, water/sewer/septic/well, infrastructure needing clearance) and AutoCAD file
  • Basic load data: living-area square footage, all-electric or dual-fuel, A/C or heat pump tonnage
  • Easement documents as required

Our ADU electrical plans include the NEC Article 220 load calculation, panel schedule and single-line diagram, which cover the load and equipment information on this list. Site-plan and service-location details come from your architectural set.

Service requirements

Meter location, clearances and service equipment must follow PacifiCorp 2022 Electric Service Requirements Manual (Rev 1; enforced for installations after January 1, 2025). We show the meter and service equipment on the electrical plan so the location can be confirmed with PacifiCorp early.
