What if I do not have architectural plans yet?

You can still place your order. We begin preparing your MEP plans once your architectural drawings are ready, and in the meantime we can advise exactly what we'll need from you. Ordering early simply reserves your spot in our queue.

Why we need architectural plans first

MEP plans are not standalone documents — they are engineered on top of your architectural floor plan. Our engineers place outlets, switches, light fixtures, ductwork, HVAC equipment, plumbing fixtures, drain and vent lines, and panel locations directly in relation to your walls, rooms, kitchen, and bathrooms. Without a finalized floor plan, there's nothing to coordinate those systems against. That's why the turnaround clock starts on receipt of your complete architectural information.

What we do and don't provide

An important distinction: we prepare MEP plans and Title 24 — not architectural design. We don't draw the floor plan, elevations, or site plan themselves. If you don't yet have those, you'll need an architect or designer to produce them first. Once you do, we take it from there.

Your options if you're not ready yet

  • Order now, send plans later. Complete checkout to lock in your pricing and turnaround tier, then email your architectural set to orders@mepplansusa.com when your designer delivers it. Your order is not penalized for the wait — the clock only starts once we have complete information.
  • Wait until plans are done. If you prefer, you can hold off and order once your architectural drawings are finalized, so your MEP plans can move immediately into production.
  • Reach out for guidance. If you're unsure what counts as a "complete" set or which drawings we need, contact us before ordering and we'll tell you precisely what to ask your designer for.

What to ask your architect or designer for

  1. A scaled architectural floor plan with room dimensions and fixture locations.
  2. A site plan showing the ADU's position, setbacks, and existing structures.
  3. Elevations confirming ceiling heights and roof form.
  4. If available, a single combined architectural PDF containing all of the above.
You set the project type as "Plans In Progress" or "Starting From Scratch" during checkout, so we know to expect your drawings shortly and can plan accordingly.

Should you order now or wait?

There's no wrong choice, but here's how to decide. If your architectural drawings are close to finished and you want to lock in your pricing and turnaround tier, ordering now is a fine move — you simply email the set when it arrives. If your design is still early or likely to change significantly, it may be easier to wait until the floor plan is settled, since meaningful layout changes after we've started can consume one of your included revisions. Either way, the key point holds: we never begin engineering until your architectural plans are ready, so you're never charged for work that can't yet be done correctly, and your turnaround time always measures from complete information.

When your architectural set is in hand, we deliver coordinated, permit-ready MEP drawings ready to submit to your building department. See how it works for the full sequence, or start your order at order.html.
