What does MEP stand for?

MEP stands for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing — the three core building systems.

Mechanical (M): heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), including heat pumps, furnaces, mini-split systems, exhaust fans, ductwork, and ventilation.

Electrical (E): power distribution, electrical panels, outlets, lighting, switches, grounding, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and electrical load calculations.

Plumbing (P): water supply lines, drainage, vent piping, sewer connections, gas piping, plumbing fixtures, and water heating equipment.

Together, these three disciplines allow a structure to operate safely and efficiently.
