Is Title 24 included with residential MEP plans?

Title 24 energy compliance reporting is an optional add-on, not bundled into the base residential MEP price. For residential projects, the Title 24 report is +$299 and can be added to any single, two-discipline, or full MEP package at checkout.

What Title 24 Covers

Title 24 is California's Building Energy Efficiency Standards program, and the report documents that your design meets those standards. It commonly addresses several systems at once.

  • Energy modeling for the building envelope, including insulation and glazing.
  • HVAC efficiency, water heating, and lighting requirements.
  • Compliance documentation that many jurisdictions require alongside MEP plans for a permit.

Title 24 Pricing

Pricing differs slightly between project types, reflecting typical scope.

Project TypeTitle 24 Add-On
Residential+$299
ADU+$240

Do You Need It?

Most new homes, additions, and many remodels that change conditioned space or energy systems will require a Title 24 report at submittal. Smaller or non-conditioned scopes may not. Because the triggers differ from project to project and city to city, requirements vary by jurisdiction — verify with your local building department whether your project needs Title 24 documentation before you submit.

Adding Title 24 to your MEP order keeps everything coordinated under one provider, which can help streamline plan check and reduce the chance of mismatched documents. Learn more on our Title 24 reports page. Remember that every MEP order already includes permit-ready PDF delivery, two revisions, and city correction responses with no hidden fees and no sales tax.

Bundling the report with your MEP order also means a single point of contact if plan check raises an energy-related comment, rather than coordinating between separate vendors. To bundle Title 24 with your plans, see our pricing page or place your order and select the add-on. If you're not sure whether your project needs it, email orders@mepplansusa.com with your scope and city, and we'll help you decide before you submit so you don't pay for a report your jurisdiction may not require.
