The CF1R sets the energy targets; the MEP plans have to deliver them. Specifically:

  • HVAC — the CF1R establishes minimum heating/cooling efficiency, and the mechanical equipment schedule must specify equipment that meets it.
  • Water heating — the CF1R fixes the water-heater type (often a heat-pump water heater) and efficiency, which the plumbing plans must reflect.
  • Lighting — high-efficacy fixtures and required controls noted on the CF1R must appear on the electrical plans.
  • Solar/storage — any PV requirement or exception, plus solar-ready and ESS-ready provisions, must match between the report and the electrical sheets.
